RIO DE JANEIRO, July 10 (Xinhua) -- Corinthians denied reports on Thursday that Netherlands international striker Memphis Depay is close to leaving the club.

Brazilian media reported the 31-year-old's future at the Sao Paulo outfit was in doubt after he missed a compulsory team training session on Wednesday.

Corinthians said Depay reported to training on Thursday and had provided a satisfactory explanation for his absence the previous day.

"He met with Corinthians' acting president, Osmar Stabile, football executive Fabinho Soldado and head coach Dorival Junior," read a statement on the club's official website.

"During the meeting, the player explained his absence and expressed his desire to remain at Corinthians. After taking the necessary steps, the presidency considers the matter resolved."

Local reports said Depay is unhappy, citing unpaid bonuses and image rights.

Depay, whose Corinthians contract is due to run until December 2026, has made 42 appearances and scored 13 goals across all competitions since joining the club as a free agent last September.
