Five people were injured in a stabbing incident near Dam Square in Amsterdam on Thursday, according to the national broadcaster NOS.

Police have cordoned off parts of the square and arrested a suspect. A trauma helicopter landed in front of the Royal Palace on Dam square, the report said.

Police said the motive and cause of the stabbing remain unclear for now.
