THE HAGUE, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- Eredivisie leader Ajax increased its lead over PSV to five points by beating Go Ahead Eagles 2-0 in Amsterdam on Sunday.

With Brazilian debutant Matheus replacing injured Remko Pasveer in goal, Ajax was unable to impress before half-time at the Johan Cruyff Arena. After half-time, the team was more energetic and striker Brian Brobbey broke the deadlock in the 56th minute.

After Go Ahead defender Gerrit Nauber was sent off for a second yellow card, the visitor's task became even tougher, and Oliver Edvardsen made it 2-0 in the 86th minute after a cross from Anton Gaaei.

Reigning champion and second-placed PSV did not play this weekend, giving Ajax a five-point lead at the top of the table with 11 matches remaining.
