ABU DHABI, 25th January, 2023 (WAM) -- The Muslim Council of Elders, under the chairmanship of Grand Imam of Al Azhar, His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al Tayeb, has strongly condemned the desecration of the Holy Quran by an extremist in the Netherlands. This vile act is a manifestation of deep-seated hatred and racism, which is universally rejected.
The Council emphasised that these repeated and barbarous attacks on Islamic sanctities are deeply provocative to Muslims worldwide and fuel extremist and hateful rhetoric.
The Council urged for decisive action to be taken to end such repugnant acts by holding the perpetrators and instigators accountable. These detestable actions cannot be excused under the guise of freedom of speech or expression, the Council stressed.
