DOHA, 3rd December, 2022 (WAM) -- The Netherlands overcame a brief scare to easily defeat the US 3-1 and advance to the FIFA 20232 quarter-final.

In fact, the US got off to the better start of the two teams; Pulisic had a chance to score just minutes into the game but was denied by Andries Noppert after racing onto a clever pass over the Dutch defense.

However, Netherlands came back strongly and scored their first.

The Americans appeared to be lacking in inspiration as the Dutch comfortably sat in and frustrated the US attacking line.

The US began the second half with vigour, focus, and numerous goal opportunities until they managed to score in the 76th minute.

The US' momentum was short-lived. In the 81st minute, Denzel Dumfries was left wide open in front of the US goal and he powered the ball beyond Turner to make it 3-1.
