WARSAW, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Ethan Hayter from the Ineos Grenadiers team took his first big victory at the World Tour stage after winning the Tour de Pologne general classification in Kracow, Poland on Friday.

The 23-year-old British cyclist took the lead in the stage 6 individual time trial with a 11-second advantage over Dutchman Thymen Arensman (Team DSM). In the last stage from Skawina to Kracow, there was no change on the podium of the general standings. Bahrain Victorious' cyclist Pello Bilbao finished third, 18 seconds behind the winner.

Hayter finished the last stage in the bunch in the 24th position. His team Ineos took the peloton to the safe zone with 3 km to go before the sprint teams stole the show. Earlier on, Julius Johansen, Alessandro De Marchi, Jarrad Drizners and Syver Waersted tried a breakaway, but the sprint groups did not allow them to fight for a victory.

"I regret I didn't win any stage, but I'm happy for being first in the general standings. Of course you can always improve something. I really enjoyed the race as every stage delivered great emotions to the fans. It's incredible for me that I stood on the highest podium," Hayter told Xinhua.

It was Arnaud Demare from FDJ who turned out to be the winner of stage 7. Friday's triumph allowed the French to stay on the top of the sprinters classification. Dutch Olav Kooij from Jumbo-Visma crossed the line second, while stage 5 winner Phil Bauhaus from Germany took the third position.
